Rostec CEO: Boeing, Airbus unlikely to return to Russia

VLADIVOSTOK, Sep 7 (PRIME) -- The aircraft made by Boeing and Airbus are unlikely to return to Russia in the future, state industrial corporation Rostec said in a statement on Wednesday quoting CEO Sergei Chemezov.

Earlier in the day, Rostec’s subsidiary United Aircraft Corporation (UAC) and national flagship carrier Aeroflot signed a letter of intent on UAC supplying 339 planes to Aeroflot in 2023–2030.

“The aircraft of Boeing and Airbus, which are unlikely to be delivered to Russia ever, will be replaced by nationally-made passenger aircraft. The new generation of MC-21 and Superjet account for almost 300 planes out of the 339 aircraft. The Tu-214 will become a reliable support, as this aircraft was previously produced on special orders and proved its efficiency,” Chemezov said as quoted by Rostec.

MC-21 will become the flagship aircraft of Aeroflot, he added.
